Former high-ranking politicians Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula, Zizi Kodwa, and Pule Mabe have been arrested in South Africa on charges of corruption and bribery related to kickbacks on government contracts. The arrests sent shockwaves through the nation and highlight the ongoing fight against corruption in the country.
2024 has seen the arrests of high-ranking politicians like former Speaker of Parliament Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula, former Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture Zizi Kodwa, and former African National Congress spokesperson and ANC NEC member, Pule Mabe.
However, would tell a different tale when all three politicians would find themselves on the wrong side of the law.State Prosecutor Advocate Bheki Manyathi, read out her charges at the Pretoria Magistrates Court. He says he will return to serve the ANC after resigning his ministerial position as Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture.in October alongside six co-accused. They were charged with 16 counts of fraud, money laundering and contravention of the Public Finance Management Act.
