CAR Magazine had the privilege of chatting to the MD of Jaguar Land Rover Motorsport and Jaguar TCS Racing Team principal, James Barclay, about what this historic win means for the team.
Following a thrilling 10th season of Formula E, Jaguar TCS Racing has claimed its first Formula E Teams’ World Championship title, with the British racing outfit writing a new chapter in its storied motor-racing legacy.Jaguar’s motorsport heritage is illustrious. The British marque has been competing in international motorsport for more than seven decades.
With a clear focus on the future, in 2016, the firm made its return to international motorsport when Jaguar TCS Racing, under the leadership of South African-born Team Principal James Barclay, entered the ABB FIA Formula E Championship and was determined to add a Formula E World Championship title to its motorsport legacy. Speaking to CAR magazine, Barclay said: “When we started this race programme, we realised those moments of success were becoming older.
“It’s a wonderful privilege and honour to have written the new chapter in Jaguar’s story,” Barclay added. However, following this historic victory, Jaguar TCS Racing won’t lay down its pen easily; the company aims to continue adding more chapters to its world championship title-winning legacy. “The first chapter is up to date since some of those wonderful chapters of the past, and we look forward to writing more,” Barclay concluded.
