South African academic Dr Pumla Gobodo-Madikizela bags prestigious Templeton Prize
Dr Pumla Gobodo-Madikizela , a renowned South African researcher, author, and psychologist, is this year's winner of one of the world's most prestigious awards, the Templeton Prize , valued at approximately R26.6 million.
Gobodo-Madikizela, 69, is the third South African to win this award since its inception in 1972 by Sir John Templeton, and follows in the footsteps of previous winners Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu and theoretical physicist George F.R. Ellis . According to the Templeton Prize website, the award is given to an individual who has"made an exceptional contribution to affirming life's spiritual dimension, whether through insight, discovery, or practical works".South Africans need to be in the know if we want to create a prosperous future.
