The parties have agreed to await the Mozambican Constitutional Council's final election results and prioritize bilateral relations on security and trade.

International Relations Minister Ronald Lamola says President Cyril Ramaphosa is consulting with the current Mozambican President, Filipe Nyusi, Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan, and Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa to find a solution to the violence in Mozambique .

He says the post-election violence which has also halted operations at the Lebombo border is posing a risk to energy security.
