South African internet users have been hit with major downtime – reportedly linked to Microsoft Azure services and cable breaks on the West coast of Africa. notifying customers using its Azure Services in South Africa North and South Africa West that they may experience increased network latency or packet drops when accessing their resources, along with degradation and availability issues.

“We are currently investigating a networking issue that has resulted in higher-than-expected latency for users whose resources are hosted in or connect with South Africa North and West,” it said.“Our service provider, Microsoft Azure, is experiencing a widespread outage which is currently impacting our transactions. Azure is working to resolve the issue,” it said.
