Recent torrential rains across South Africa's interior and northern regions have brought much-needed relief to dams, particularly the Vaal Dam which has surged past 70% capacity. However, these heavy downpours have also triggered flooding and damage in several areas, posing risks to communities.

“The Vaal Dam has experienced a remarkable rise in water levels, surpassing the 70% mark,” stated Midvaal ward 1 councillor Pieter Swart
