In his 2020 address, Ramaphosa announced the first stage of the Greater Lanseria Master Plan — a modern urban development around the Lanseria airport using various smart technologies. Developer Dovetail Properties said the R8-billion project could start construction as early as June 2022, as they had already obtained all the necessary government approvals.
It will include 50,000 residential units and numerous retail and office buildings, and will be built with green principles in mind.Eskom and the City of Tshwane are currentlyAfrican Coastal Smart City — Seeking investors Very little detail is known about the project, but Mabuyane said there were already investors who had expressed an interest in the area.Although several politicians have separately mentioned bullet trains coming to South Africa, they all seem to refer to a possible development between Johannesburg and Durban.
Deputy transport director-general Ngwako Makaepea said the government was currently looking at the Durban-Johannesburg route as a lucrative possibility for high-speed rail, as it could compete with low-cost airlines.
