You’d be forgiven for thinking South Africa’s 2024 Government of National Unity is growing by the day. That’s because it is. This time last week, the 2024 Government of National Unity encompassed five political parties. However, the sentiment of, ‘If you can’t beat them, join them,’ continues to spread through the corridors of power.
Ramaphosa said every effort must be made to ensure it remains true to the founding spirit of collaboration in good faith. Elected representatives must put aside narrow interests and work together to build the country. Therefore, “… the coalition cannot be preoccupied with jockeying for positions, and tussles over appointments between parties,” said Ramaphosa.
