South Africa fast bowlers Anrich Nortje and Sisanda Magala have been ruled out of the Cricket World Cup because of injuries.
JOHANNESBURG — South Africa fast bowlers Anrich Nortje and Sisanda Magala were ruled out of the Cricket World Cup on Thursday because of injuries.
They have been replaced by Andile Phehlukwayo and Lizaad Williams for the tournament in India starting Oct. 5. The absence of Nortje, who has a back injury sustained in the recent ODI series against Australia, is a bigger blow to the Proteas as he is the team’s frontline pacer and has experience of playing in the Indian Premier League. He also missed the 2019 World Cup in England because of injury.
