Stranger Things' finale may hinge on this thread.
Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT It's no secret that Stranger Things season 2's "The Lost Sister" episode is the series' most divisive outing and, as a result, Kali Prasad, a.k.a. Eight, is one of the most disliked characters. The hate some viewers harbor for Kali is somewhat misplaced: the real issue with "The Lost Sister" boils down to a writing problem.
Stranger Things Worst Episode Is Key To Eleven's Arc Back in season 1, Eleven embarks on a pretty uncomplicated journey, but, at this point, the complete Stranger Things timeline and narrative is more than a little intricate. The series evolves from its friendship and chosen family origins into a show about confronting one's past in order to realize one's present place and identity.
"You have a wound, Eleven, a terrible wound. And it’s festering," Kali makes the conjured Brenner say. "...and it will grow. Spread. And eventually, it will kill you." With her powers and lived experiences, Kali is eager to show El that running from the past is the problem. "You have to confront your pain" is one of the episode's refrains - and it's also a massive hint at where Stranger Things season 5 is headed.
Stranger Things season 4 made it abundantly clear that Eleven is incredibly powerful, even by Hawkins Lab standards. This also makes El's willingness to heed Kali's advice about confronting pain even more essential to the show's outcome. In season 2, Eleven lets her pain fuel her abilities, while season 3 sees her hiding from the past and losing said powers. At the onset of season 4, El has let that wound fester and doesn't tell anyone about the rot.
