West Shore RCMP said the driver lost control about 9:15 p.m. at the Helmcken Avenue on-ramp, causing the car to roll several times before ending up in the northbound lanes.

A 24-year-old Sooke man was issued a 90-day immediate roadside driving prohibition after his vehicle rolled on the Trans-Canada Highway in Langford Tuesday night.

The man’s 2018 Chevy Camaro was also impounded for 30 days after testing showed he was over the legal limit for blood-alcohol concentration. The car was heavily damaged and the air bags were deployed, but the driver and passenger sustained only minor injuries.“Impaired driving is the leading cause of collision-related fatalities in B.C.,” said Const. Andrew Matheson. “In this instance, the driver wrecked a very nice car for no reason and is incredibly lucky that he did not kill or seriously injure himself, his passenger or anyone else.
