Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT The James Bond series' iconic gun barrel opening is recreated with all six 007 actors at once in classy new art. Ian Fleming’s fictional secret agent first came to the big-screen in 1963’s Dr. No, with former Mr. Universe Sean Connery taking the role.
It remains to be seen who the next James Bond actor will be, but he will have a huge legacy to live up to, as audiences are reminded in new art that brings together all six Bond stars in a classy recreation of the series’ iconic gun barrel opening. Check out the art in the space below : Murphy’s artwork is available for purchase via his Etsy store ThunderSpyArt, along with plenty of cool merch.
The New James Bond Will Likely Not Break The Mold While being cool in itself, the above art does also serve as a reminder of the lack of diversity in James Bond casting over the decades. While the opportunity does exist for that lack of diversity to be remedied in the casting of the next Bond, it’s unlikely the mold will be broken when it comes to the race and gender of the actor ultimately chosen as 007.
The current list of front-runners to take over as Bond is predictably filled with white males. The most frequently mentioned non-white male potential Bond actors – Regé-Jean Page and Idris Elba – are both considered relative long-shots. Female actors have an even longer shot at taking over as Bond, even if No Time to Die briefly handed the 007 designation to Lashana Lynch. Series producer Barbara Broccoli has even gone so far as to declare that there will never be a female Bond.
