Netflix has latched on to the fact that romantic comedies featuring a mainly female cast are crowd-pullers – and their latest offering,It has not been an easy journey for the genre and before the success of, female-led rom-coms were often brushed off as “it’s just a girly remake of that awesome movie about those dudes in Vegas”., Jenny , an aspiring music journalist has just landed her dream job at an iconic magazine and is about to move to San Francisco.
Shot in New York over six weeks the production had 74 women on its crew, with others as part of the cast and awesome soundtrack.“It was such a female empowerment film,” said Rodriguez. “It was led by a woman, directed by a woman, DP-ed [photography direction] by a woman and AD-ed [assistant direction] by a woman. There were women in electric and in the camera department. I feel very proud of the people we’ve got to be a part of this.
