Current battery technology is good enough for passenger vehicles, but isn't yet at a stage where it can efficiently power the massive trucks and equipment that miners use to remove minerals from the ground.Some of the technology needed by Rio Tinto Ltd. to reach net-zero emissions by 2050 “does not exist today,” said the mining giant’s minerals CEO, who stressed the need for more investment in clean energy technologies.
