JOHANNESBURG - Some lobby groups are considering taking the fight for humanitarian aid for illegal miners in Stilfontein all the way to the Constitutional Court.
The first organisation to take government to court over operation Vala Umgodi was the Society for the Protection of our Constitution. Another NGO, Mining Affected Communities United in Action , also squared off with government on the matter.MACUA's national organiser, Meshack Mbangula, said that while the court affirmed the illegal miners' right to receive humanitarian aid, he believes the court erred in failing to affirm the state's obligation to protect this right.
