More than 120,000 votes, including mail-in and those in drop-off ballot boxes, still uncounted on Wednesday

While many races in Contra Costa County had apparent clear winners Wednesday morning, others are still too close to call with at least 120,000 ballots still uncounted, according to election officials.

“The numbers are in no way final,” Nolan said. “We have a lot of work to do to get this election wrapped up, and we are working very hard to do it.” In the Antioch City Council race, incumbent Councilwoman Monica Wilson with 34.71% was edging out colleague Lori Ogorchock with 30.65% in District 4. The two incumbents were competing for a seat because of redistricting, which moved Ogorchock into Wilson’s territory, but even without a win in District 4, Ogorchock would stay on the council, serving the remainder of her two years in District 3.

In Richmond, early results show Councilmember Eduardo Martinez inching ahead in the race for mayor by roughly 1,000 votes or 37% of the vote. Initial tallies also report that Andrew Butt and Doria Robinson have claimed early leads in Districts 2 and 3, while Soheila Bana is comfortably ahead in District 4.

Her seat at the table could prove fatal for the city’s relationship with the developer consortium led by the Seeno family of building companies selected as the new master developer for the Concord Naval Weapons Station project. Others pulling off Concord council wins include Lori Hoffmeister with nearly 46% of the vote in District 1 and Dominic Aliano who ran unopposed in District 3.

Seasonal election clerks uses a machine to tally ballots inside the Contra Costa County Clerk-Recorder office in Martinez, Calif., on Friday, Nov. 4, 2022. After tallying the ballots they are packaged into boxes and stored.
