The model and designer talks to GRAZIA about her summer style essentials
Looking for some summer style inspiration? Today, River Island has launched an exclusive edit from model and designer Sofia Richie, featuring a curated selection of her favourite new season styles. Highlights from her edit include a relaxed, oversized natural linen suit, a tailored jacket dress with cut-out detail and summer denim with a hint of distressed detailing.
When deciding on which pieces made the cut, Sofia, 23, focussed on versatility and wearability. Think modern, well-cut classics with a twist. ‘I always gravitate to simple pieces that I can wear every day and dress up or down. There’s nothing better than being able to wear an outfit in two different ways,’ Sofia tells GRAZIA.
‘I feel like my edit for River Island reflects my own style. It’s easy to wear and cute, but at the same time comfortable and can be worn in so many ways.’ Sofia’s personal favourites in the edit? The two LBDs. ‘They’re effortless: you can take them anywhere and wear them anywhere.’ Like all well-dressed women, Sofia’s style – which she describes as ‘understated chic’ – has many influences. ‘There are tons of eras and people I love to pull fashion inspiration from. I try to dress in a way that feels true to me and not true to a current trend. I love looking on Pinterest and making fashion mood boards.’
And having recently got engaged to her music executive partner Elliot Grainge, Sofia’s now faced with a major sartorial moment to prepare for. ‘I am so excited! I started planning right away. I always joke that I plan my life through Pinterest mood boards,’ she says. ‘I haven’t gotten into the wedding dress phase of it yet, but I have tons of ideas of what I like.’
