Talks over a cross-border merger between Italy’s UniCredit Group UCG and France’s Société Générale GLE could resume once the chief executive of the latter steps down next year, according to an analyst from Bank of America. French businessman Frédéric Oudéa, who currently serves as CEO of Société Générale, is set to step down from the role in May 2023 after 15 years in the post. A new CEO is expected to be announced either this month or in October.
