Socialist Brooklyn Assemblywoman Emily Gallagher shamelessly broke out the tin cup to cover emergency surgery for her ailing cat — despite raking in a six-figure, taxpayer-funded salary.
At the time, Gallagher earned $110,000 per year as a state lawmaker, and her salary has ballooned to $142,000. However, the universal healthcare supporter also revealed she negotiated the price down to just $1,000 — while being “forced” to take a high-interest loan to cover the costs.
