A Newport Beach couple vacationing in Mexico have been found dead in their luxury hotel room, according to the Baja California Sur Attorney General’s Office.

The pair was staying at the Hyatt’s luxury Rancho Pescadero resort and in the days before their deaths went to the hospital because they thought they had food poisoning, according to aOfficials said their suspected cause of death was inhalation of gas.Abby and her boyfriend thought they had food poisoning and went to the hospital to get treatment.""We received a phone call saying that they had passed away peacefully in their hotel room in their sleep.

Authorities said there were no signs of violence on either of the couple’s bodies when first responders found them around 9 p.m. Tuesday in their hotel room. There have been several cases of such deaths in Mexico due to poisoning by carbon monoxide or other gases. Such gases are often produced by improperly vented or leaky water heaters and stoves.In October, three U.S. citizens found dead at a rented apartment in Mexico, apparently victims of gas inhalation.
