John Nicolson is set to stand for the seat of Alloa and Grangemouth at the next General ElectionMP has said he will miss parts of his constituency as boundary changes mean it will be abolished before the next General Election.

John Nicolson confirmed he would be standing for the seat of Alloa and Grangemouth at the next election as his current constituency, Ochil and South Perthshire, is due to be split up into five new constituencies. While Nicolson would continue to represent the majority of Clackmannanshire if he emerges victorious, the rest of his current constituency – including the wards of Kinross-shire and Strathallan – are being subsumed by other newly created seats.

He said on X/Twitter: “Delighted to have been selected to fight the next election as @theSNP candidate for Alloa & Grangemouth.“I’ll miss parts of my constituency in boundary changes. But much looking forward to making new Falkirk and Grangemouth friends – now joining forces with Clackmannanshire!”. Former deputy first minister John Swinney said he was “sorry” to be losing Nicolson from Perthshire and celebrity cook Nigella Lawson took the opportunity to compliment the MP’s appearance. The changes were announced earlier this year and will result in Scotland’s number of seats inThe SNP said the changes were reflective of a “broken Westminster system”.
