AS a Shettleston councillor I know how many people and families are struggling with the cost-of-living crisis.councilIf these changes are implemented in time for the 2024-25 financial year then they won’t just be minimal increases.
The reality is that many of these people will be hard-working families or single people on their own, who were fortunate enough to purchase these homes and are reliant on outdated council tax valuations still being in force. That is typical of the contempt they have showed for local authorities during their 16 years in power.Research by my party fully exposed what these increases will mean in reality.
Launching this consultation during a time when Parliament is in recess is also typical of this SNP-Green government.I suspect some people may be unaware of what this government is, which is why I am keen to highlight it in my column this week and will continue to do so.
