The Calgary Flames celebrated a long-overdue franchise first, rolling to a 7-2 rout of the Pacific Division-leading Golden Knights in Vegas.
They had a little luck on their side Thursday. Their cashed on a knucklepuck and a bank-shot from below the goal-line and also benefited from a helpful bounce off one of the men-in-stripes.
“It shows that we can play with anybody,” Toffoli said in a post-game interview on Sportsnet. ”Obviously, we’re fighting for our lives and we need to win every single game. I think we should be proud of this one.” The Flames, to their credit, didn’t sag after that missed call. The score was knotted for all of 81 seconds before Coleman replied with a nifty redirect.
