Two-bedroom condo sells for almost $10,000 under asking over small kitchen, nearby construction

Walls of windows span each room in the two-bedroom condo in the exclusive Eau Claire building. This two-bedroom corner suite has a prized perch above the Bow River and Prince’s Island Park in downtown Calgary, but buyers were put off by its diminutive kitchen and ongoing construction outside the building.“We’re seeing a lot of people who are cash buyers downsizing from their house into one-level living,” agent Christina Hagerty said.

In its first six weeks on the market, enquiries came in from buyers in British Columbia and Ontario, but no offers. But when the asking price was dropped from $849,900 to $824,900, another owner in the gated community made an offer of $815,000 and sealed the deal.
