Two days before Willson Contreras' return to Wrigley Field with the Cardinals, St. Louis announced Contreras would be moved out of the catchers' role and play DH or outfield until further notice.

"One thing I want to make super clear: We're not losing ballgames because Willson Contreras is behind the plate," Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol said, according to mlb.com."I want to be super clear on that." "I talked to Yadi a few days because I was feeling guilty about it because I take the losses personally and I came here to win," Contreras said."I'm not blaming anybody and I'm not pointing fingers at my pitchers because I'm on their side. But we need to be better at executing pitches with two strikes."
