SEATTLE — Two days after being subjected to a champagne celebration by the Seattle Mariners, the A’s got even.
The Mariners, who clinched their first postseason berth since 2001 on Friday night, couldn’t touch Kaprelian, although that’s hardly new. In eight career starts against Seattle, the A’s right hander has held the Mariners to a .178 batting average. The no-hit bid ended in the sixth inning with a two-out single by Ty France.
Meanwhile, the A’s were roughing up Seattle starter Robbie Ray, casting doubt on his place in the Mariners’ three-man postseason rotation. Allen got Ray in the sixth, a two-run shot that put the A’s ahead 6-0. It was the fourth of the season for the light hitting shortstop.
