Slow-starting Stormers eventually slay the Dragons to keep playoff hopes alive
Manie Libbok was excellent off the kicking tee as the Stormers beat the Dragons in Newport on Friday.
It wasn't pretty, but the Stormers won the first game of their two-leg overseas United Rugby Championship tour on Friday evening in Newport, Wales, when they beat a plucky Dragons side, 44-21, to keep their playoff hopes alive. It was a match in which the Stormers blew more cold than hot, and the handling errors, poor ball protection, and sloppy defence that have plagued their season continued unabated.
Ultimately, it was a strong showing in the final quarter that allowed them to get the job done, although they will need to be far better next week against Connacht.
