Skeletal remains of vanished teen found in Maryland woods: cops
The skeletal remains of a Maryland high school girl who vanished in September were found in a wooded area just outside of Washington D.C., police said.
Rosa Diaz-Santos’ body was found on Nov. 15 behind some homes on Drexel Street in the town of Takoma Park, theIt wasn’t clear how the 17 year old’s remains were discovered — but over the weekend, the local medical examiner confirmed the body belonged to Diaz-Santos and ruled the death a homicide, cops said.
It was also not revealed how the teen was killed — and police were still searching for a suspect Tuesday. Diaz-Santos, who lived in Greenbelt, Md., was last seen on the morning of Sept. 22 when she was on her way to Eleanor Roosevelt High School.Rosa Diaz-Santos was last seen walking to school on Sept. 22, police said.Dr. Portia Barnes, the principal of Eleanor Roosevelt High School, sent a schoolwide email to families on Monday saying Diaz-Santos’ death has been difficult for the school to handle.
