Senior defenders have overcome personal loss, playing key roles for Minutemaids
Washington Township's Anna Tobler battles Eastern's Kylie Yap for the ball during a game from the 2021 season. Tobler has overcome injury and the loss of her dad to play a key role as a defender for the Minutemaids, who begin play in the South Jersey Group 4 tournament this week.Anna Tobler and Tori Barbara have been friends since kindergarten, and the two backfield mates for Washington Township share more than a passion for soccer.
Tobler is playing her senior season with a heavy heart following the death of her father, Edward, who lost his battle with kidney cancer last November at the age of 53. After attending his daughter’s first couple of games last fall, he became too ill to return to the field and passed away shortly after the end of the season.
