Sizwe Africa IT has denied any involvement in a conflict of interest concerning a R537.4 million contract for school tablets in the Eastern Cape, after media reports suggested the Hawks are investigating its former chairman, Reverend Vukile Mehana, and his wife, Dr Naledi Mbude-Mehana, for alleged irregularities.
Sizwe Africa IT (Sizwe) has denied involvement in a conflict of interest regarding a R537.4m contract for 55,000 Samsung Galaxy tablets for schools in the Eastern Cape. Following media reports from weekend newspapers that the Hawks are investigating Dr Naledi Mbude-Mehana, a senior national education department official, and her husband, Reverend Vukile Mehana, the former chairman of Sizwe Africa, Sizwe has clarified their statement.
Sizwe categorically denied any connection between the alleged irregularities and the tablet supply contract, stating that the media reports have incorrectly conflated unrelated contracts into a single story. The contracts referred to are rental agreements from around 2014, and Sizwe was chaired by Rev Mehana before the acquisition by Ayo in 2018
