Siya Kolisi’s participation in this year’s World Cup is reportedly in jeopardy after scans on the Springbok skipper’s injured knee reveal the worst.
The Sharks captain appeared to hurt his right knee in the opening 10 minutes of the clash between the Durbanites and Munster in the Vodacom United Rugby Championship.
He tried to soldier on after spending some time getting it strapped up, but he was quickly substituted and watched from the sidelines as his teammates let a 19-point lead slip in a 22-22 draw at Kings Park., the 31-year-old has suffered an apparent partial tear to his anterior cruciate ligaments as well as injured his meniscus on both sides of his knee.
On Monday, a cryptic post from Kolisi’s wife Rachel on social media indicated that his injury on Saturday is worse than suspected. She posted a photo on Instagram of her husband’s strapped hand along with a message asking for prayer. “Believing for a miracle,” she wrote. “Would really appreciate if you would take a minute out your day to pray with us.”
