Wadea Al-Fayoume was a six-year-old Muslim boy who was stabbed to death by a deranged individual solely because he was Muslim. Al-Fayoume was innocent. This is not a controversial statement in any way, and, despite the emotional turmoil fueled by the Hamas-Israeli conflict, no matter what side one supports, everyone should agree that Wadea Al-Fayoume should still be alive today.
Joseph Czuba, 71, killed Al-Fayoume by stabbing him 26 times. He also attacked the boy’s mother, stabbing her more than a dozen times. She will survive and spend the rest of her life knowing her six-year-old was killed because of events that happened thousands of miles away and had nothing to do with him.
“Detectives were able to determine that both victims in this brutal attack were targeted by the suspect due to them being Muslim and the ongoing Middle Eastern conflict involving Hamas and the Israelis,” according to a news release from the Will County Sheriff’s Office. Law enforcement officials labeled the attack as a hate crime, and rightfully so. They called it a “senseless and cowardly act of violence.” And it’s the type of violence fueled by legacy media that covers stories to stir up emotion instead of spreading information. It’s the type of violence that happens when Congressional Democratic Representatives like Rashida Tlaib spread lies about tragic events in the war.
Six-year-old Muslim boys shouldn’t be stabbed to death because of foreign conflicts. The same goes for the Israeli children killed by Hamas. There is no need for any children to be murdered, ever, let alone over religious, political, territorial, and ideological differences. Children are not sacrificial pawns whose deaths are meant to be weaponized during war. Neither are innocent civilians.
