Six provinces in South Africa, namely the Free State, KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, the Northern Cape, and the Western Cape, still lack access to the online renewal service for driving licence cards and vehicle licence discs launched nearly three years ago. The Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) has made the service available to all provinces, but the decision to implement it rests with the relevant provincial authorities. While some provinces have shown interest, none have publicly announced plans to join the platform.

Six provinces in South Africa still aren’t supported on the National Administration Traffic Information System online platform, and their respective transport departments have been silent on plans to join it.

“The RTMC has made the service available to all provinces and will be able to roll it out as soon as the provincial authorities indicate their readiness to have the services,” said Zwane. MyBroadband asked the outstanding provinces’ transport departments about their plans to join the platform, but none had answered our questions by publication.consider implementingThis will only happen after it rolls out smart enrollment machines, which is planned for the 2024/2025 financial year.

In February 2022, the RTMC added the ability to book driving licence renewals on the eNatis website. While the booking process has been modernised, motorists must still visit driving licence testing centres to complete their renewals.
