The libraries are a haven of cosy reading spots for book lovers
Nothing beats a good library, and with December just around the corner, there isn't anything quite like wrapping up with a warm blanket and a good book as the temperature outside plummets.

The 16th-century castle was the ancestral home of the Brodie clan for more than 400 years. Broughton House Broughton House is an 18th century townhouse on the High Street of Kirkcudbright in Dumfries and Galloway. It is best known as the home of impressionist painter Edward Atkinson Hornel from 1901 to 1933.
While the castle's highlights include its mediaeval High Hall and stunning Garden of Historic Roses, the library is what we're interested in. The collection includes more than 4,000 books, with a particular focus on law, theology, classics, and the Scottish Enlightenment. According to National Trust for Scotland, the library was once a hayloft. However, it now features opulent decorations such as grand chandeliers, cedar bookcases with ebony details, and a grand marble fireplace.
