By Thursday afternoon, his 70-page affidavit in support of the plea deal began circulating on social media. Matodzi's affidavit provides invaluable insights into the operations of VBS and spells significant trouble for the remaining accused in the case. It also implicates politicians and political parties that were mentioned as having benefited from the VBS scandal.

Dlamini did not participate.”Dondo Mogajane, former director-general of the National TreasuryMatodzi accuses former National Treasury director-general Dondo Mogajane of accepting a payment of R1 million in exchange for not forcing municipalities to withdraw their investments from VBS Mutual Bank. Although Mogajane no longer holds that position, he is now the chairperson of the Government Employees Pension Fund.

Mogajane dismissed these allegations as"nonsense" and"hogwash" in an interview with Daily Maverick. While he admitted to meeting Matodzi privately on a few occasions — once at Matodzi’s home and another time at a restaurant — he rebutted any claims of wrongdoing.Arisa Janse van Rensburg “After becoming chair of the VBS board, I would regularly make requests for loans and/or overdraft increases for use by my companies or those associated with me,” he said in his affidavit.Dr Zweli Mkhize, the chairperson of Parliament's Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs committeeMatodzi claims that in 2016, he approached former Cabinet minister Dr Zweli Mkhize for assistance for VBS to access larger facilities at the Public Investment Corporation .

“I knew that Matsepe and Danny were well connected politically and that they would be able to use their political influence to secure investments from municipalities, especially in the Limpopo province,” Matodzi said.Around 14 municipalities in Limpopo, North West and Gauteng lost almost R1.6 billion after illegally investing with the bank.
