The province’s police watchdog is investigating the death of a 66\u002Dyear\u002Dold man following an interaction with provincial police Friday afternoon near Long Sault.
In a release the Special Investigations Unit said preliminary information indicates OPP were conducting a RIDE program on the Highway 401 westbound offramp at Moulinette Road, just west of Cornwall.Officers located the vehicle in a cornfield a short time later and the man was taken into custody.Paramedics were summoned and took over medical care, but the man was pronounced deceased at the scene.The SIU said two investigators and two forensic investigators have been assigned to the case.
