The girl was arrested by Ottawa Police Services officers for an alleged theft at a grocery store on May 25, the Special Investigations Unit said Tuesday. She went to a hospital with unspecified injuries the next day.
“Based on the SIU’s preliminary inquiries, which included a review of the teenager’s medical records, it was determined there was no ‘serious injury’ suffered within the meaning of the SIU’s mandate,” the agency said.SIU civilian investigators probe the actions of Ontario police officers that may have resulted in death, serious injury, sexual assault or the discharge of a firearm at a person.
