'Sitting ducks': Magda Wierzycka says Discovery breach is forcing her to hire bodyguards again
Sygnia CEO Magda Wierzycka says a Discovery Insure data breach has left her and her husband as "sitting ducks."
Sygnia co-founder and CEO Magda Wierzycka says she has been forced to sell her car and that of her husband and is upgrading their home security after a Discovery data breach exposed their residential address and home contents to an unknown third party. Wierzycka first revealed the data breach on X on Wednesday by posting a screenshot of a letter from Discovery that personal information from their household insurance policy had been shared with a third party. The compromised information included names, ID numbers, the residential address and all the insured items listed on their household insurance policy.
"They have everything about us - including our car details. This is not stealing your financial data. The intention of this is to break into your house," Wierzycka told News24, adding:South Africans need to be in the know if we want to create a prosperous future.
