Sit-in protest at Sibanye mine losing steam as 31 remain underground
A sit-in staged by workers underground at Sibanye-Stillwater 's Kroondal mine appears to be losing steam as just 31 workers now remain below the surface.
Late on Tuesday, the company said 211 aggrieved workers had staged a sit-in at the Kwezi shaft at the Kroondal platinum group metals mine over an employee share option scheme. The Monday night shift at another Kroondal shaft, known as K9, was disrupted by 250 workers who had gathered on the surface. These protesters were prevented from accessing underground and have since dispersed. South Africans need to be in the know if we want to create a prosperous future.
