Sir Jim Ratcliffe is set to take a no-nonsense approach to his ownership of Man United this summer with most of the club's squad up for sale
Sir Jim Ratcliffe is set to take drastic action at Manchester United due to the revelation of a staggering wage bill.
However, there is more certainty regarding the playing squad, which is set to undergo a major overhaul in the summer transfer window in a bid to ignite a revival. MEN Sport understands United are willing to sell every member of their squad, except for young talents Rasmus Hojlund, Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo as well as goalkeeper Andre Onana, due to the Premier League's profit and sustainability rules that could hamper recruitment.
Casemiro, who joined from Real Madrid in the summer of 2022, was given a four-year deal worth £350,000-a-week, yet his form has notably dipped this season. Billionaire Ratcliffe has not shied away from expressing his views on United's spending, particularly highlighting the £60m paid to Real Madrid for Casemiro as an example of poor investment during a discussion with Arnold and Murtough last year.
"We have a different approach here to be moderately intelligent about it try to do it more grassroots, trying to locate young talent. Some clubs seem to have the ability to do that, Southampton, Lille. United have done it really poorly. They have lost the plot."
