Graeme Souness claimed Manchester United chief Sir Jim Ratcliffe once told him he has no intention of spending years developing a new club.

This isn't a quick fix. I had a meeting with him, he asked to see me about buying a football club. I think he was about 66 at the time."
Their chances of securing a spot in European football could depend on their forthcoming home game against Arsenal, who have triumphed in their last four Premier League matches consecutively. Despite a successful first season under Ten Hag, which saw United clinch the Carabao Cup, reach the FA Cup final and secure third place in the league, Souness suggests Ratcliffe might harbour some regrets.
