A Singapore an woman is seeking compensation from a Johor Bahru hotel after finding a bed bug in her room. She and five friends booked three rooms at Hallmark Regency Hotel via the Agoda website. Two of them checked in a day early on December 13, while the remaining four joined them the next day. They checked into the hotel around 3pm and returned around 3am. After showering and chatting, they went to bed around 4am. However, the woman couldn't sleep due to itching.
At 5am, she went to the toilet and noticed several bites on her body, including her buttock. She also saw a bed bug crawling on the sheet. They informed the hotel staff at 5:30am, who were surprised to find bed bugs in the room. They were moved to another room without windows, which they found uncomfortable. They then requested another room and were given a corner room with hair on the floor. The woman expressed distress over the incident, stating that it ruined their plans for a yacht party the next night. Agoda has issued a full refund for all three rooms, but the woman is seeking further compensation from the hotel for the distress, medical expenses, and inconvenience caused by having to find alternative accommodation for six people.
