Singapore Airlines (SIA) improved its on-time performance ranking in the Asia-Pacific region, securing the third spot in 2024.
Singapore Airlines (SIA) achieved the third-highest on-time performance in the Asia-Pacific region in 2024, according to Cirium, an aviation analytics firm. The airline earned a score of 78.67 percent, improving from its seventh-place position in 2023 with a score of 78.57 percent. Japan Airlines (JAL) topped the rankings with 80.9 percent, followed by All Nippon Airways (ANA) at 80.62 percent.
Both Japanese airlines retained their top spots from 2023, although their scores dipped slightly this year.Cirium defines on-time performance as flights arriving or departing within 14 minutes and 59 seconds of their scheduled time. SIA's consistent performance was acknowledged by Cirium's Chief Marketing Officer, Mike Malik, who stated that Singapore Airlines 'maintained its standard' over the past year. He added that the airline's rise in the rankings was partly attributed to weaker performance from other carriers in the region. SIA's flight cancellation rate was also exceptionally low at 0.08 percent, significantly below the industry average of 1 percent or higher. Other airlines in the region that performed well included Thai AirAsia, IndiGo, Air New Zealand, and Garuda Indonesia. These airlines outperformed SIA in 2023 but saw a decline in performance in 2024. Globally, Mexico's Aeromexico secured the top spot with an on-time score of 86.7 percent. Saudia ranked second with 86.35 percent, and Delta Air Lines came in third with 83.46 percent. No Singaporean carriers made it into the top 10 globally. However, Singapore's Changi Airport achieved an on-time score of 74.95 percent, placing it among the top 10 most punctual airports worldwide. King Khalid International Airport in Saudi Arabia was the most punctual airport globally, with a score of 86.65 percent
