Katy running back Seth Davis plans to honor late Mississippi State coach Mike Leach by continuing his career with the Bulldogs.When Seth Davis signed his letter of intent with Mississippi State on Wednesday, it was about more than just football.Mike Leach died at age 61 on Dec. 12For Davis — who finished his high school career as the all-time leading rusher at Katy — there was no doubt about where he wanted to play his college ball.
One by one, the Bulldogs’ unwavering 2023 recruits submitted their letters of intent Wednesday. It was a testament to not only the impact Leach had, but of the players’ resolve.“I could tell he was a great coach,” Davis said. “He always took the time to talk to me, it didn’t matter how long it was. We had a great relationship.”
“Coach Arnett is a great coach, too,” said Davis, who led Katy to the state semifinals this season. “I feel like he’s going to help and take Mississippi State in the right direction, too.” Davis is ranked as the No. 40 running back in the country and the No. 94 overall player in Texas, according to 247Sports.Several notable Houston-area players remain unsigned and uncommitted, including a pair of talented playmakers from the North Shore secondary.
