France's Adam Siao Him Fa aims for a hat-trick of European men's figure skating titles in Tallinn. Despite an ankle injury, he remains the favorite, facing competition from compatriot Kevin Aymoz and other contenders like Daniel Grassl and Matteo Rizzo.
France's Adam Siao Him Fa is aiming for a third consecutive European men's figure skating title as the championship kicks off in Tallinn on Wednesday. The five-day competition at Tondiraba Ice Hall will feature 34 nations less than a year before the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina, but notably absent are athletes from Russia and Belarus. Siao Him Fa remains the favorite despite missing the ISU Grand Prix final and French national championships due to a right ankle injury.
Prior to his injury, Siao Him Fa had secured a third French Grand Prix gold and placed third in the Cup of China. However, it remains to be seen how his ankle will perform during the short program on Thursday and the free skate two days later. The world bronze medalist will face stiff competition from his compatriot Kevin Aymoz, who reclaimed the French national title in his absence. Aymoz boasts the season's highest European score (282.88) and is aiming for his first European podium at age 27. Last year's Europeans proved to be a nightmare for Aymoz, who plummeted to 31st place before ending his season prematurely. 'The day after Europeans, I woke up in the morning and I was sad to not be dead in my sleep,' he shared after taking silver at Skate America in October. Aymoz secured silver in both his Grand Prix events in Finland and Skate America, and placed sixth in the Grand Prix final. Although he has never achieved better than fourth at Europeans, Daniel Grassl, a European silver medalist in 2022, who placed fourth in the Grand Prix final, and fellow Italian Matteo Rizzo, a three-time continental medalist, are also considered medal contenders
