Premier Scott Moe has said the province will do what it takes to help settle as many Ukrainians as possible as they flee violence at home.

As a show of unity, members of the Saskatchewan Party government and Opposition NDP expressed support for Premier Scott Moe’s motion to stand in solidarity with Ukraine and condemn Russia over its invasion.

“We have no number budgeted or set out for that. We have told the federal government we will accept as many as can get here.” Immigration Minister Jeremy Harrison said the province is able to realistically handle “thousands” of new immigrants from Ukraine. Immigration critic Aleana Young said the province should take as many people from Ukraine who are interested in coming to Saskatchewan.

Harrison said the province and settlement organizations have been “really good” at working with newcomers to help ensure they have those supports., divisions continued over the handling of COVID-19 on Monday.
