Residents and businesses in Darwen say they have been stuck without any internet for five days following an outage last week.

Since Wednesday evening, Virgin Media customers told LancsLive they have had no internet access due to a technical fault in the area. Every day since, they’ve been reassured by the broadband giant that their WiFi connection will be resorted.

Nikki Rhodes is the Retail Manager and shareholder at Totally Wicked on Duckworth Street, and noticed the internet had gone on Wednesday evening. This morning , it had yet to return, which forced her to shut the shop. As she relies heavily on her home internet provider for work, she's been left frustrated by having no connection for five days. She said: "I first noticed it had dropped out at one in the morning on Thursday, but it usually cuts out at that time and comes back about an hour later, so I thought it'd just do that.

She added: "I've been using the Hotspot on mine and my partner's phone, but when I use it on a phone call, then it cuts off my internet. Also, I'm dropping in and out of calls and I miss messages sometimes or mine don't send. "When I started working from home, I had to call Virgin to get a better package, so I pay about £100 per month for good WiFi and TV. I must have called them eight times since Thursday and they keep saying they're working on it.
