“I hope it will have the café, like John Lewis did, it had such a nice atmosphere there.”
Vivien Waddock, 75, told the Watford Observer she has only been shopping in the town centre three times since Christmas because of its “state”.
The sales consultant who lives in Bushey said: “When you walk into the centre, especially the John Lewis end it is so depressing. There are so many pop-up shops now.“I hope it will have the café, like John Lewis did, it had such a nice atmosphere there.”One person on social media said: “As long as it has a nice cafe to have a cheap baked potato, I'm good.”While many retailers say they are struggling due to online purchases, one person sees the benefits of shopping in store.
“The addition of Dunelm, one of the UK's top homeware retailers, will not only enhance the town centre's appeal but also provide local residents with greater shopping options and show that Watford is open for business.” Watford MP Dean Russell added: “It is fantastic news for our town centre, other local businesses, and consumers.Despite the overwhelming positive response, some people said they would have preferred a Matalan or Home Bargain store to have moved into the space.
