A company has been ordered to pay more than £12,000 in fines and costs after illicit tobacco and cigarettes were found hidden inside a store.
The council said the director and manager were contacted, with the director saying the tobacco was bought for personal use and wasn't for sale.READ MORE: Police issue arrest update after man blasts gun four times in 'targeted' shooting On Wednesday, a trial began at Bolton Magistrates' Court, with the company accused of breaching tobacco regulation legislation and trademark rules. The case was found proved by a District Judge in the absence of Home Discount Store Ltd .Councillor Luthfur Rahman, deputy leader of Manchester City Council, said: "Yet again this case highlights the deception some businesses will engage in an effort to hide their wrongdoing.
