Oak Bay police said the threat indicated someone was going to bring a gun to school and there would be a shooting at 2 p.m.
Oak Bay High School students were sent home early on Wednesday, after a threat was posted on the door of a bathroom stall.
Police advised an early dismissal for the school’s approximately 1,150 students after discussing the situation with school officials. Greater Victoria School District superintendent Deb Whitten said students were dismissed at 1 p.m. “out of an abundance of caution,” and all classes, practices and scheduled events were cancelled for the rest of the day.
Whitten said the school is expected to reopen on Thursday, adding updates will be provided as more information becomes available.Police remained at the school after students and staff had left, and said they had so far found no evidence of anyone having a firearm at the school.
